Business Exit – Not Just for Owners!

As a very smart adviser once said to business owners; “you will retire, it might be in a gurney, or you can make a plan.”
Our work with business owners brings this reality to the forefront. Strategic Business Planning & Execution is essential to Optimizing Business Valuation and Owner Wealth, and there is much to consider during the growing years.
Early planning sets the stage for discerning owner’s personal transition, and for maximizing business value before a transfer. The Georgia Chapter, Exit Planning Institute, EPI, engages experts from many different specialties to bring a collaborative process for defining owner needs and integrating specialized services into the exit process in advance of a sale.
In interactive panel discussions, advisers share their insights from real experiences about the impact of Strategic Planning & Execution on the value of a client’s business. They discuss where you should start – a major consideration in the relationship with business owners. The discussions explore the key reasons why businesses don’t execute strategically and the potential impacts on valuation and transaction success for business owners. The forum teaches advisers how to recognize the common business symptoms and warning signs that lead to ineffective business performance and valuation that is below industry standard.
Together, specialists serving business owner interests can solve a common challenge in serving these clients. Every relationship should address the fact that owners will ultimately seek retirement from their business. Planning should begin much before owners feel a sense of urgency to make a change. While they are celebrating growth and engaging talent to sustain and advance their organizations, there must be a vision for future transition and for business continuity. What will he or she transition to? What processes are in place for discerning owner transition and business continuity? Who will take the lead in the future? Do they know?
